Our Agenda
Enhancing Overall Quality of Life
Our overall quality of life in the Township can improve and as Township Commissioners we will:
- Improve communication with the community and revamp the Townships website to increase communication and access to information.
- Aggressively seek federal, state and county funds for economic development, roads, public transportation, water/sewer and environmental conservation improvements.
- Carefuly watch Township government spending.
- Encourage walking and biking recreation and environmental conservation.
- Support use of renewable energy.
- Work with SEPTA and citizens to get the right sized public transportation facilities and services.
Enhancing Neighborhoods
Our neighborhoods are the most attractive in the region and as Township Commissioner we will:
- Encourage community participation in an open government.
- Utilize Smart Growth land use policies to guide land use policy.
- Improve police/community relations with regular community meetings.
- Preserve our trees by supporting tree maintenance, removal and replacement efforts.
Enhancing Local Businesses
Our local businesses and shopping districts can grow stronger with our support.
- Build on growth of Arcadia University to attract new businesses to Easton Road and continue Easton Road business district improvements including parking and lighting on Easton Road.
- Work with the Cheltenham Mall, the Cedarbrook Plaza and business owners as corporate citizens of the Township.
- Work with Philadelphia and businesses to make Cheltenham Avenue equal to City Avenue.
- Attract businesses, especially restaurants to Township.
Enhancing Education Excellence
Our Township is built on excellence in education and as Township Commissioners we will:
- Work with the School District of Cheltenham Township to deepen and extend academic excellence.
- Encourage use of Township facilities to support tutoring and after school activities of all students in public and private schools.
- Work with Arcadia University to address parking, student conduct, property acquisition and utilization of local businesses and resident education opportunities.
